Taiwan wins baseball Gold at Doha Asian Games

Taiwan won a gold medal in the baseball event of the 15th Asian Games in Doha , Qatar on December 7, defeating Japan 8:7.

  Chinese Taipei and Japan were locked in a see-saw struggle from the beginning of the game until the last innings, when Lin Chih-sheng struck a goodbye hit, with two on second and third bases, scoring two more points to give Chinese Taipei a win.

  It marked the first Asian Games gold for Taiwan baseball and the country's third in the Doha games that will run through Dec. 15.

  A total of 391 athletes are representing Chinese Taipei in 34 events at the games, with hopes of winning gold in about 11 sports -- taekwondo, archery, shooting, karate, tennis, soft tennis, table tennis, rhythmic gymnastics, bowling, golf and equestrian events.
